Daily Timetable

Teaching takes place six days a week. During weekdays there are two daily sessions: morning lessons run from 8am to 11:15am and afternoon lessons from 12:30pm to 3:45pm. On Saturdays there is only a morning session.

On weekday and Sunday evenings, students spend two and a half hours in personal study and preparation for the next day’s lessons. During this period, they study in groups, which allows for an exchange of ideas and stimulating discussion.

Throughout the day, students perform the five daily prayers in the main prayer hall of the Islamic Da‘wah Academy. In addition, there is a period of half an hour every evening devoted to worship and spiritual development.

During periods of free time students are able to rest or take part in recreational activities etc.

An  additional feature of the students’ day is managing a number of selected domestic duties aimed at fostering fellow feeling, public spiritedness and service to others. Students organise themselves into groups and take turns to carry out communal catering and cleaning tasks.

On Saturdays a special session takes place in which students hone their oratory skills after researching and constructing talks on topics of interest to them.

Weekends also bring the chance for relaxation, and students can apply for leave to visit parents or relatives. Those staying on enjoy the popular five a side football sessions on Sunday mornings. Our students also publish their own newsletter, named Al-Jame‘āh. Dedicated students take part in writing articles, editing, designing and distributing the newsletter.

All in all, a mature, academic, yet informal environment exists at JRU and students value the structured daily timetable, which  helps them get the most out of their time.
